(Download Only) In Aug. 2009 the 40th General Council approved a motion to add to the Doctrine section of the Basis of Union: the 1940 Statement of Faith, A New Creed, and A Song of Faith. The formal Category Three remit will be issued by the Executive of the General Council between January and May 2012. This background document is intended to help your pastoral charge's session, church board, or church council prepare to vote on whether to include these doctrinal statements in the Basis of Union.
