Bill Blaikie

Bill Blaikie was ordained in The United Church of Canada in 1978. In 1979 he was elected to Parliament; he was re-elected eight times and retired from federal politics in 2008. In 2009 he was elected to the Manitoba Legislature and served as Minister of Conservation until 2011. He is currently an adjunct professor in theology at the University of Winnipeg and Director of the Knowles-Woodsworth Centre for Theology and Public Policy.

Noelle Boughton

Noelle Boughton is a journalist, editor, spiritual director, and workshop facilitator. Manitoba born and raised, she earned arts and journalism degrees from the University of Manitoba and Carleton University and received spiritual direction training from Jubilee Associates. Noelle has written for many Canadian newspapers and magazines, been an investigative researcher for television, and is managing editor of the United Church's magazine Mandate. She is the author of Margaret Laurence: A Gift of Grace, A Spiritual Biography.

David Bruce

David Bruce joined The United Church of Canada in 1985 and was ordained in 1990, serving congregations in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Ontario. In 1999 he completed his doctorate in ministry and in 2012 he received a Ph.D. in historical methodology and theology. David is currently Director of Human Resources and Administration at The Good Neighbours' Club, a centre for homeless and marginally housed men in Toronto.

Rob Fennell

Rob Fennell grew up in Winnipeg, Manitoba, and served for 10 years in ministry with United Church congregations in Saskatchewan and Ontario. Passionate about encouraging thriving churches and effective leaders, Rob teaches historical and systematic theology at Atlantic School of Theology in Halifax, Nova Scotia. His academic research focuses on the theological interpretation of scripture. He lives in Bedford, Nova Scotia, with his spouse, Sally Shaw, and their two sons.

David Giuliano is the 39th Moderator of The United Church of Canada. He is a pastor, spiritual director, writer, and teacher. He lives in Marathon, Ontario, a resource-industry town on the shores of Lake Superior. David is married to Pearl and they have two children, Jeremiah and Naomi.

Nancy Elizabeth Hardy

Nancy E. Hardy has had a lifetime of experiences serving The United Church of Canada—as a diaconal minister, the church’s mission study editor, an ordained pastor, and as co-chair of the Voices United committee. In her retirement, Nancy returned to study at Emmanuel College in the Toronto School of Theology, earning a Th.D. In 2013, she was awarded a McGeachy Scholarship, leading to her work on the Worship in the City project.

Jamie Holtom

Jamie Holtom has been a United Church minister for the last 16 years at one of the most vibrant United Churches in our country, North Bramalea United Church (NBUC). He and his wife, Katrina, have also published a devotional book for parents called The Gift of a Child.

William S. Kervin

William S. Kervin is Associate Professor of Public Worship at Emmanuel College and in the Toronto School of Theology. An ordained minister of The United Church of Canada, he has served congregations in the Maritimes and Ontario. Kervin has been active in the production of the United Church's worship resources Voices United, Celebrate God's Presence, and More Voices, and is the author of The Language of Baptism and A Year of Grace.

Ross Lockhart

Ross Lockhart is the lead minister at West Vancouver United Church, British Columbia. Born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Ross has served congregations from coast to coast and offered leadership in such places as Kenya and Ireland. Ross recently completed his Doctorate in Preaching at McCormick Theological Seminary, Chicago. When not around the church Ross enjoys time with Laura, Emily, and Jack, as well as barbequing and wearing Hawaiian shirts.

Catherine Faith MacLean

Catherine Faith MacLean is a passionate preacher and pastoral minister. She was ordained in 1985 by Maritime Conference, and has served United Churches in Toronto, the Maritimes, Yellowknife, the Rockies, and Edmonton. Catherine has profound hope in God’s action through congregational life. Having a hand in writing A Song of Faith and being the evangelist at Berwick Camp were particular joys for her. She received her education for ministry from Harvard and McCormick. Her doctorate is in preaching.

Debbie McMillan

As a bi-racial child born to a single mom in Hamilton, Ontario, Debbie McMillan faced a number of challenges. Her family, neighbours, and church gave her the stability she needed to excel in school. She graduated from McMaster University and Emmanuel College at the University of Toronto. She proudly serves Unity United Church in Vasey, Ontario, and is an award-winning columnist for the United Church’s Mandate magazine. In addition to ministry, Jesus, friends, animals, and being a “total geek” brings her great joy.

Janice L. Meighan

Janice Meighan teaches courses in community settings in religious, biblical, and ritual studies, as well as in death and dying, and is a conference speaker on these topics. An experienced business consultant and analyst and a licensed ritual officiant, she holds a Master’s degree in Religious Studies (in the humanities) from the University of Toronto. Janice is a mother-by-marriage who lives and works in Toronto with her husband. She volunteers with the Survivor Support Program in Toronto and is a member of West Hill United Church.

Betty Lynn Schwab

The Rev. Dr. Betty Lynn Schwab was in congregational ministry for over 26 years in western Canada until she was called to the General Council Office as the Worship, Music, and Spirituality program coordinator. She retired in 2012. A Benedictine oblate, Schwab's passion for biblical frame drumming in worship now takes her to many congregations and events. She lives in Ottawa with her life-partner, Bob.

David Sparks

David Sparks has served as a minister for 38 years in The United Church of Canada and the United Reformed Church of England and Wales. He has written six books of lectionary-based prayers in the Prayers to Share and Pastoral Prayers to Share series (Wood Lake Books) and his hymns have been published in hymn books in Canada and USA. Sparks has led workshops on various aspects of public prayer. Now retired, he lives with his wife in British Columbia.

John H. Young

John H. Young is an ordained minister in The United Church of Canada. He served pastoral charges in Nova Scotia and Ontario prior to joining the faculty of the Queen’s University’s School of Religion (formerly Queen’s Theological College). He has taught in the areas of Ministry Studies, History of Christianity, and World Religions. John has served in leadership positions at all levels of the United Church, including as a Conference president and as the chairperson of a number of General Council committees.
